We are well ready for our Hallow'en break.
Happy Hallowe'en everybody!
Buttercup class have been very busy since September. We have been learning the letters "s & a" in our Jolly Phonics programme. We have done sensory activities such as writing the letters in shaving foam, we have made the letters out of our playdough and we have completed some writing activities also. We have had music therapy every week with Grainne which we have really enjoyed. We have completed many fine motor activities such as squishing balls of playdough, threading beads, cutting and sticking activities, messy play and many art activities. We really enjoyed doing Aistear this month (Learning through Play). Our Theme was Hallowe'en. We had 3 play stations; Dressing up which we loved, Sensory Tuff Tray which was filled with green coloured rice , orange spiders and many other spooky items that we had to find and count. Our third station was our playdough station, each group made green playdough from scratch and then added some googly eyes and legs to make monster spiders!! We enjoyed doing the witches cackle, and the ghosts "Boo"! We especially loved putting spells on each other with our wands!!
We are well ready for our Hallow'en break. Happy Hallowe'en everybody!

Junior 1 had such great fun on their school tour to Kilinkere Pet Farm. They loved feeding all the animals especially feeding the baby lamb a bottle of milk. Farmer Paddy was so kind to us all and even brought us for a ride on his tractor and trailer. It was a fantastic day out!
Junior 1 had so much fun during Active Schools week. They loved taking part in the outdoor obstacle course and tried some tasty fruit and vegetables as part of healthy eating. They also took part in Zumba class which was great fun too! It was such a fabulous fun filled week had by all.
Junior 1 are learning all about "People Who Help Us" for March and April. We had a lovely visit to the fire station in Cootehill where Fireman Michael showed us around the fire station and explained how everything worked. He let us try on his fireman hat which was very heavy and he also let us get into the real fire truck, it was so cool! We loved using the big hose and liked listening to the siren going off! It was a brilliant trip.
Junior 1 really enjoyed an Easter egg hunt. They learned a lovely bunny song and wore their bunny ears on the hunt. They found lots of eggs and were delighted to fill their baskets. It was a lovely end to the term and everyone was ready for the break.
Our theme this month was food. We had so much fun exploring this topic. We cooked and cleaned in our kitchen and wore our chefs apron and hat during Aistear. We learned all about fruit and vegetables and did printing in art. We read the story of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and loved it. We learned all about what the caterpillar ate and how he turned into a beautiful butterfly. We worked really hard painting and decorating a caterpillar and butterlies for our displaty board. We did lots of matching activities and did a sorting activity too. It was a really fun month.
Junior 1 were very busy in December preparing for our big play on the 11th of December in Drumlin House. They all did so well and we were all very proud of our little angels. We had a lovely walk to the fairy forest which was beautifully decorated for Christmas. The children loved exploring the forest. We had Christmas jumper day on the 21st for Santa's visit. We had lots of fun dancing at the disco too!
