On Wednesday 23rd February The Holy Family held their WOW day (Walk on Wednesday). We all dressed up in 60's clothes to celebrate the school opening 50yrs ago in 1967. The local Gardaí met us at The White House Hotel and gave us a Garda escort down to the main school. We have applied to get our 4th Green Flag and the WOW day was part of the application process. We invited students from the Darley National School and St. Michael's National School. All the classes did projects, made displays and dressed up. Senior 5 and 6 learned the 'Twist' and performed it for us. It was awesome!! Here are some photos!!
We are having our Whole School Day of Action on the 22nd of February. We are walking from St.Michael's Hall down to the main school. The Holy Family School is also 50yrs old this year. It was opened in 1967 in Carrickmacross. The staff and pupils will dress up in clothes from the 1960's to celebrate. We will also have projects that we have worked on on display in the school. We have invited two local national schools and some friends from Youthreach to join us on the day.
The Holy Family School are currently working towards their 4th Green Flag! We have successfully worked for and have been awarded three Green Flags for Litter and Waste, Energy and Water respectively. We are working very hard for our Travel Flag. We are examining different modes of transport and how they impact the environment. We will apply for this flag in March 2017. We will keep you posted on how we are getting on!
