We also practised our cooking skills making yummy rice krispie buns and toast. We had fun finding Easter items in the sand and practising our counting skills aswell.
We are looking forward to our Easter Holidays and all those delicious Easter eggs.
Our theme this month was Transport. We enjoyed investigating the effect of forces on various vehicles. We pushed and pulled different transport on rough and smooth surfaces and up and down slopes. We looked at and sorted old and new vehicles. We went outside to the school gate and did a traffic survey counting the different types of vehicles that passed the school and we had fun predicting what type of vehicle would pass the school next! We learned the Lamh sign for several types of transport. We enjoyed playing with the train set and slotting the tracks together. We read 'The Train Ride' and sequenced the parts of the story. Finally, we completed some lovely art work - printing with vehicle tyres, printing with transport shaped sponges and making hot air balloons.
We made snake socks by stuffing socks with recycled shredded paper and then we added eyes and a tongue.
We enjoyed making our own jungle during small world play, we set up a jungle scene and placed trees, animals, a watering hole and logs in our camouflage tent. We made stripey zebras and animal feet prints. We read our book 'Walking through the Jungle' and had fun making all the animal sounds. We played with the Happy Architect Jungle building set.
October was a busy month in Junior 6. We did some spooky art including black cats, orange pumpkins and shaving foam ghosts. We went outside to find animal habitats and found spiders in webs, a bird in a nest, woodlice under rocks, worms in the soil and ants under rotten wood. We carved out a pumpkin and dressed up for Trick or Treating and our Halloween Party. We enjoyed making Witch's Stew in the Witch's kitchen and practiced our counting skills by finding scary objects in the sand and counting how many we could find. We read Room on the Broom and dressed up as the witch in the story.
