February was a fun packed month in Junior 5. To celebrate Chinese new year we make lots of Chinese crafts such as lanterns and writing our names in Mandarin. We also enjoyed tasting various delicious Chinese foods.
To celebrate Valentine's day we had a great time boogieing at the valentine's disco in St. Michael's Hall. We tried some different toppings on our pancakes for Pancake Tuesday and had a great trip to the 'Cavan Centre' adventure centre in Ballyjamesduff.
As part of our Spring topic we created some lovely pieces of art such as blow paint cherry blossom trees, butterflies made from tissue paper and wipes, as well as, finger print rainbows. Another part of our Spring topic is growing and changing. We planted some salad vegetables like cherry tomatoes, baby gem lettuce and cucumber. We are hoping to use them later in the year as part of our healthy eating program.
To help develop our money skills we had our first tuck shop. Everyone enjoyed the yummy treats.
Finally, as part of developing our independence/ self help skills, we made ham and cheese sandwiches following visual instructions. We all did very well and are looking forward to continuing developing these skills in the future.
