Junior 5 had lots of activities over the last few months. We have been awarded a silver award for the 'EcoRangers' for investigating and exploring our local environment from Bord na Mona. Road and bike safety were also high on our agenda lately during our nature investigations and also during our P.E. lessons. 'Something Fishy' came into the school to show us some fish and other creatures that can be found in our locality.
We enjoyed going on a number hunt around the classroom as well as learning to develop our money skills at our tuck shop.
Our topic in April was 'Down on the farm'. We did lots of activities, such as play and drama,to develop our knowledge and vocabulary around this topic. We also created popcorn sheep and pancake pigs as part of our visual arts subject.
In February we grew some vegetables etc. from seeds. As part of our self help/ independence skills we made some sandwiches using some of the lettuce we grew. We really enjoyed eating the sandwiches using our homegrown produce.
