We look at all sorts of different textures and shapes and we even incorporate our academic and our art work! Here you can see some of the children painting brown robins.
Every month we take a different colour to explore and for November it was - Brown!

Here we all are dressed in our Halloween costumes...we scared all the staff!! we had a monster party with music and dancing..it was great fun and we all had a good time.
We all had a very busy October- our topic for the month were Autumn and Halloween, we explored lots of different things we could find in Autumn - we especially liked the pumpkin. We sang lots of songs about Autumn too like Dingle, Dangle Scarecrow, Autumn leaves are falling down and I'm a little scarecrow. We loved the feel of our friend Sammy Scarecrow, he was knitted and felt all soft and squidgy!! Even the work we did fitted into the topic as we traced lines to help leaves fall to the ground.
We also looked at Halloween pictures and found a huge spider that kept crawling onto all our different body parts as part of our SPHE programme. The children in SCC3 were very busy making Oat cookies. We had to collect all the ingredients from the recipe and then mix them all together. After that we put them onto greaseproof paper and put them in the oven to cook. In the last picture you can see how well they turned out!! We sent them home for all our families to enjoy.
We used shaving foam and glue to make 'puffy' Halloween ghosts. It was great fun and we all loved feeling the paint when it was dry. We then added eyes and a spooky Halloween background. We also made spider biscuits... we melted chocolate and added strawberry liquorice laces for legs and then added Smarties for eyes. We got to taste the chocolate which was delicious and then brought the finished biscuits home for everybody to enjoy. During PE we dressed up in witches hats and played with a blow up pumpkin as part of a Halloween obstacle course. We all enjoyed this although it was a little bit scary at times!!
The children in SCC3 have been very busy for the last few weeks. We have been learning about Autumn and have done lots of Art work and as part of circle time we sang a lovely song called Dingle Dangle Scarecrow; here you can see us hard at work making Autumn trees and loving the feel of our very own scarecrow.
All the children in the school have been taking part in 'the food dudes'. The aim is to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables, or even to try foods that they haven't tasted before. There is a reward scheme for all the children and they can win exciting prizes if they taste the foods on offer. The fruits are, bananas, oranges, apples and grapes whilst the vegetables to try are, mange tout, peppers, carrots and cucumber. As some of the children in SCC3 are peg fed we encouraged them to use their other senses and we smelled, touched and looked at the different foods. We have really enjoyed taking part.
Every month we look at a new topic, and March was very busy, we looked at Saint Patrick's Day and Easter. In these photos you can see us looking at our 'Things we can see at Easter' books as part of our Communication and Language and also decorating Easter Eggs with fingerprints, which covers our Art as well as Communication and Language.
We were very busy using cardboard to make our Easter Chicks in Eggs. Rachael cut out all the pieces and then with her help we stuck them all in the right places to make the chick. Then we learned the song 'chick chick chick chick chicken' as we all held our chicks.
In SCC3 we all love our Mammies very much indeed. We decided we would show them exactly how much when we made our mother's day cards. Here you can see us doing printing with a fork to make our tulips. It was great fun and we all concentrated really well.
