Sports day
Senior sports day took place in the Peacelink facility in Clones, Co. Monaghan. The Peacelink Clones is a state of the art facility. It was an extremely well organised event which ran very smooth. The kids took part in indoor activities lead by Dean Mc Elroy (Sports inclusion officer) including Flisk, Skittles and Bocce bowls. On the athletic track, the kids completed relay races and had some fun in the sand pit trying to jump as far as they could. They then moved onto an obstacle course and team challenges on the 3G pitch. This was a very rich experience for the kids and they had a blast.
The Junior School and Autistic Unit’s sports day took place on the Cootehill Soccer pitch. A big Thank you to Cootehill harps for the continued use of their 3G pitch at no cost. This is a brilliant facility that the school is allowed to avail of. The Junior sports day was divided up into 6 different stations which were each led by the Senior students. They explained and demonstrated each station brilliantly. The activities included water and sponge relay, bicycle saloon, javelin throw, obstacle course, team challenge and Bean bag throw. The day was finished off with a Tug a war battle and some sack races.
The Special Care Sports day was held on the School grounds. Each Special Care class was giving a team in the Euros (e.g Portugal, Ireland) and they had to battle it out against the other countries to win points. The kids took part in timed obstacle courses, races and games. Tug a war was the deciding game at the End which saw Sweden grab first prize, winning gold medals.
